I am trusting Mother's Day was wonderful Sunday. Even though I'm a mother myself, I forgot to wish all of you moms and grandmas a happy Mother's Day. Spring is here and that means ball season is in full swing.

Thirty members of the Rivers Edge Quilters enjoyed a catered supper following their final meeting of the year, which will extend to Aug. 30.

Six John Paul II students were awarded Crusader of the Month status at the school's April 20 Lenten Mass. Division III winners included Grade 9 students Paige Parnitsky, Tiandra Ewanchuk and Dexter Mercer.

Mervin 4-H Beef Club has had a busy year. Members started the year with a Trees for Life fundraiser at the Mervin Hope Hall Nov. 27. The barbecue beef burger lunch was a success. Dec.

I hope all the mothers enjoyed a happy Mother's Day. Birthday that I know of being celebrated in the month of May are: Kayla Gray, Terry and Jerry Scopic, Pat Beaudion, Debbie Penner and Dale Beaudion, who has a special 65th birthday.

Spring seeding has finally begun! It is good to see the farming process begin anew. Some late rainfall has delayed seeding, but a few are reporting having some acres planted.

Libraries are places to discover and love stories. Sometimes they sit on shelves waiting for a reader to bring them to life and sometimes they are read aloud and shared.

History is something that has interested me since the days when I got past the boring versions and tests that were given in my school days. Once I got past the demands to regurgitate dates and got to looking at the events, my interest was piqued.

For literally tens of thousands of years, people have been capturing their thoughts, feelings and ideas in sculpture.

We hope all mothers enjoyed Mother's Day. A feature of the day was a Mother's Day brunch held in Waseca Hall and sponsored by the Waseca 100th Anniversary Committee. Many families attended to enjoy a time of visiting as well as a delicious meal.
