Students in Maidstone celebrated the end of the school year with a visit from HOJA last week.

The JP II Mission Team spent their Easter break in three locations giving of their time and self to better the lives of others and to Be The Change.

Students in Grades 5 and 6 at Neilburg Composite School performed a musical, Go West, June 2. The students were dressed in western wear while they sang and presented this dramatic tale.

A great time was had at Redberry Lake Regional Park June 12. Redberry Lake Regional Park is located 13 kilometres east of Hafford, just south of Highway 40. Special thanks to Russ and Karen McNutt who organized a day in the park's Redberry Bowl.

I guess that old adage, "Be careful what you ask for" has some merit. Last week we were bemoaning the fact we had been left out of the rain and here a week later we are reporting an accumulation of almost four inches here in the village.

Speers Recreation Board hosted a Pirate Party in the Park June 4 to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. Approximately 50 people attended the afternoon event that started with participants being assigned to one of four pirate crews.

Monday, Unity was fortunate to have a big announcement made at the ball diamonds. The venue was appropriate because of all the activity the area enjoys this time of year.

Veronica Kmiech of Battleford has been selected as the second prize winner from Grade 12 students in the 2010-11 national student poetry contest held by Polar Expressions Publishing.

Several local youths are playing with the Lashburn Rugby Club. The team is planning a trip to Ireland at Easter next year. To raise money for their trip, the boys held a village wide bottle drive June 13.

The Borden Friendship Club hosted seniors from Radisson, Maymont and Sonningdale June 14 in their club room, with 33 guests and 40 Borden members in attendance.
