Seeding preparations are not yet general, even though we are almost in mid-May. Fields are very wet. Leaves are beginning to come out on the trees. The crocus season is about over for another year. Mother's day has been celebrated for another time.

Saskatoon Opera will be returning to the Battlefords this Saturday as special guests at a benefit fundraiser for the continuing restoration of the historic Battleford Opera House.

The Neilburg Seniors' Center was a hive of activity April 4 when the regular games day was held. Marjorie Nattress and Mary Graham were the A side winners on the shuffleboard table. Edna Jeffrey and Marlene Washenfelder came in second.

April 30, the Borden Care Home Auxiliary held a spring tea in the care homewith a few dropping in for lunch. Gerbera daisy door prizes went to Dot Buswell, Shirley Jacobsen and Gail Schoenroth.

Thespians play to sold out audiences

The Speers and District United Church held their 18th annual dinner theatre April 15-17. The Friday and Saturday performances were in the evening and Sunday was a dinner and matinee. All three were sold out performances.

Easter visitors

Donna Gardi of Prince George, B.C. was here to visit her mom and dad, Lil and Milt McMillan. They all attended the wedding of Trevor Robb and Luell Fladeland at the stockade in Lloydminster. Donna returned home Monday.
