Estevan Bruins crush Nipawin The Eagle Drilling Estevan Bruins got off to an excellent start on their current three game road trip. The Bruins marched into Nipawin last night and trounced the Hawks 7-2.

It has been 12 years since Cindy Ricci competed at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, and she's hoping this is the year she makes it back there.

The Carlyle Pee Wee Cougars played a league game in Lampman on Tuesday, January 18. It was a great evening for hockey. There was even music between whistles that made the players feel like NHLers and the moms feel like dancing.

The invitational tournament win in Saskatoon over the holidays was a start to the Weyburn Bantam AA Crescent Point Energy Wings recent dominance. Since the tournament, they have played in six contests and have not lost.

For those who have embraced the sport of snowmobiling as a way to shake those winter blues, the Arcola Optimist Club annual Snowmobile Rally has finally arrived.

Four young athletes from the Weyburn area will be representing Team Saskatchewan at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, February 14 to 27.

Weyburn Red Wing forward, Rodney Cowie, had his best SJHL game Sunday night as he scored four of the Wings' seven goals over the Nipawin Hawks. The grueling three-game/ three-night road swing saw the Weyburn team score 15 goals over three nights.

With a busy hockey weekend for some families it was nice to just be a short distance from home, especially with the possibility of 3 games.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins had a pair of league games this past weekend and were able to come out victorious in both contests, improving their record to 26-3-1 on the season.
