CANORA - The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 27 calls from Feb. 23 to March 2, some of which included: one 911 Act call, one animal call, two assaults, one breach of peace, two dangerous driving calls, one disturbing the peace, two failures to comply with release conditions, one fraud, one Mental Health Act call, one mischief, four other provincial calls, one theft, two traffic collisions, three traffic offenses, four uttering threats, and three prisoners.
911 arrest
On Feb. 23, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a 911 hang-up at a residence in Canora. Police learned an intoxicated female assaulted her grandmother. The female was located walking away from the scene and was arrested for assault.
Disturbing argument
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Feb. 24 to a disturbance at a home in Canora. The caller reported hearing a girl screaming and crying, and a male yelling. Police went to the home determined there was no emergency. All the noise was from a brother and sister arguing over video games.
Helping female in distress
The Saskatoon Police Service contacted the Canora RCMP Detachment requesting assistance in locating a female who was in distress and looking for help on Feb. 24. Police located the female and she was taken to the hospital.
Fake prescription?
On Feb. 25, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that a female attempted to pass a forged prescription at a pharmacy. Police continue to investigate.
Stuck no more
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Feb. 25 to a complaint that a vehicle was stuck on the train tracks by Tadmore. Police attended, however the vehicle had already been moved off the tracks.
Conditions ignored
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP stopped a vehicle in Canora on Feb. 26. The driver was found to be breaching his release order conditions by not abiding with his 24-hour curfew, being in possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while being a suspended driver. The male was charged and remanded into custody.
Residential scrap
On Feb. 26, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to disturbance inside a residence in Preeceville. Police attended the home and learned two intoxicated males got into a fight. Both males were spoken to and further police involvement was not required.
Stolen licence plate
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a complaint of a stolen Saskatchewan licence plate from the RM of Invermay on Feb. 26. The licence plate was stolen off a grain truck sometime after October 1, 2022. The licence plate was placed on a white Dodge truck, which was used in a break-and-enter in the Maidstone area.
