Beckett always loved art and her first inspiration for art came from her Grade 3 teacher Marion Donald.

This is the third time for this event, and although the crowd was smaller this year, it was a fun time.

Littlechief had nothing but praise for everyone involved, and the tournament was a success.

On Aug. 14, the second annual walk/run/ride marathon was held in Arcola. This year 13 kids took part in the event. A 600-meter mini marathon was set up. Although the kids could go at any speed they liked, they all chose to race to the end.

Over 100 burgers and hotdogs were served, as people enjoyed the beautiful weather downtown.

This is the first year for the Music in the Park. Approximately 70 people enjoyed the music by Curtis and Bonnie Szakacs and family, Timothy Kirhofer and Troy MacNaughton.

Aug. 28 was the last day of fun at the Alida Swimming Pool. They had lots of fun games, treats, hot dogs and movies planned, but the weatherman didn’t co-operate. There was a small crowd on hand to enjoy the festivities, eat hot dogs and to say good bye to the swimming pool for another year.

Carlyle resident Blaze Dunn was involved in a serious bicycle accident on Aug. 16. At his home on First Street West, Dunn rode his bike down his driveway onto the street and into the side of a moving half-tonne truck.

Venne has long had a childhood dream. He wanted to ride on horseback across Canada. Venne and his childhood friend were 13 years old, and they spoke of it often.
