A large group of dedicated racing fans attended the Second Annual Flyin' High at the Eagle Showdown which was held at the Big Eagle Ranch. The dust was flying and the motors revving on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Fall is here and with its beginning many Carlyle residents were expecting an election. However residents will not be casting a vote for their council members or mayor as every local candidate ran unopposed.

The CES School Community Council does great things for the town and its youth and is rarely recognized.

Somebody asks the grandmother whose two grandchildren are in carriages, "Well, how old are they?" And she says, "The doctor is five, and the lawyer is six months old.

The problem with the notion that a certain party will always represents your concerns is, that certain party eventually winds up as your government.

If you went by Lion's Park on Saturday, Sept. 22 you may have wondered what the crowd was for. The dozens of slo pitch players weren't only there for fun in the sun, but also for a worthy cause.

The vision of what government thinks is a good farm safety net and what farmers desire still seem to be decidedly different, not that that is particularly shocking. But governments keep trying nevertheless.

Wawota has seen a great many artists who have performed during the summer at Music in the Park. Free concerts sponsored by News in a Minute, fresh air, and great company made the seven performances throughout the summer and fall quite enjoyable.

As I am approaching the end of my time in Carlyle, I have been thinking a lot about being a journalist. More specifically I have been thinking about being a young 21 year old out in the real world.

The 3rd Annual Moose Mountain Recoup and Release Fundraiser Trail Ride was held on Saturday, Sept. 22, and Sunday, Sept. 23. Based at Saskairie riders registered to ride and raised pledges for the wildlife rescue, which is run by Cheryl Winkler.
