Along with celebrating 150 years of Canadian Confederation this year, farm producers are also marking 150 years of the agriculture industry in Canada. Saskatchewan has been the breadbasket of the world for over a century.

The Mossbank and District Museum and the Mossbank Library co-hosted an unique Live History event on September 16. The museum was approached by the library about hosting the event together as a fundraiser and it turned out to be very successful.

A total of 8,591 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan for the week ending September 15, up from 5,568 head sold the previous week, and up slightly from 8,548 head the same week a year ago.

Earlier this summer, Mossbank farmers banded together to plant a seed of an idea to better their community. This fall they harvested and sold their crop which is part of the Farm it Forward: Advancing our Community project.

The Assiniboia branch of TD Canada Trust made a donation to the Assiniboia Aquatics Centre on September 21. The branch regularly supports the community with donations.

The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held a pre-sorted all breeds sale for calves and yearlings on September 12. Steer calves and yearlings sold well above prices reached at this time last year. Heifer yearling prices were also higher than last year.

Producers have made significant harvest progress, due in large part to the warm and dry weather, Saskatchewan Agriculture reported for the week ending September 11.
