Wilkie area resident dies in collision

A man from the Wilkie area was pronounced deceased at the scene of a collision Aug. 1.

LANIGAN — A Wilkie area man was killed in a collision on Highway 16 Monday.

Around 2 p.m., Aug. 1, Lanigan RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision eight kilometres west of Lanigan on Highway 16.

The driver of an SUV, an adult male from the Wilkie area, was pronounced deceased at the scene. RCMP have not provided the name of the deceased.

The adult female passenger of the SUV and the lone adult male driver of a second SUV were transported to hospital with unknown injuries.

The collision scene fully blocked Highway 16 and traffic was rerouted for several hours while RCMP collision reconstructionists completed their on-scene investigation.

The investigation into the cause of the collision continues by Lanigan RCMP and RCMP Collision Reconstruction.
