Lawyers for two Onion Lake men accused of killing Braden Bull asked the Lloydminster Provincial Court for an adjournment to go over disclosure.
The appearances for Vega Bear, 24, and Branden Dillon, 26, on April 7 were waived.
Lawyer Brian Pfefferle, who represents Bear, told the court that he is in discussions with the Crown, adding that, 鈥渇urther disclosure is forthcoming.鈥
Pfefferle said he has sufficient disclosure to enter an election how Bear wants to be tried but requested a one-month adjournment.
Likewise, lawyer Kathy Hodgson-Smith, who represents Dillon, said she has received disclosure, is reviewing it and needs one more adjournment.
Disclosure consists of the Crown鈥檚 case against the accused and usually includes search warrants, the charging document, details of the offence, audio/video and transcribed witness statements, statements from the accused, expert reports, exhibits, private communication intercept authorizations, evidence, and criminal records of witnesses and the accused.
North Battleford Crown prosecutor Oryn Holm听said that Hodgson-Smith will receive the 鈥渟econd waive of disclosure鈥 by next week.
North Battleford Judge Daniel O鈥橦anlon granted the adjournments.
Dillon and Bear are both scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court by CCTV from the correctional centre on May 5. They are each charged with second-degree murder. The charges against them haven鈥檛 been proven in court.
Bulls鈥 murder is one of three murders in approximately two months that prompted Onion Lake Cree Nation to declare a state of emergency in January 2020 after the Nation experienced increased drug and gang-related activity.
Bull was last seen Jan. 7, 2020. He was reported missing on Jan. 20, 2020, and his body was found the next day.
Onion Lake Cree Nation borders the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan and is located about 50 kilometres north of Lloydminster.
