This happened to us one weekend at Good Spirit Lake. It was a little scary. Seems a little quiet around town this first few weeks of August.
H.P. Bayne – the pen name of Meacham-area author Heather Polischuk – has added another novel to her existing paranormal mystery series.
The latest, entitled The Cursed, is Book 10 in the Braddock & Gray Case Files, a series that follows brothers and private investigators Sullivan Gray and Dez Braddock as they crack unsolved murder files by falling back on Sully’s ability to see the ghosts of homicide victims. The Braddock & Gray Case Files follows the Sullivan Gray Series, a highly rated set of seven books introducing the brothers and their work helping the spirits of homicide victims and their loved ones – all while struggling to stay alive themselves.
The Cursed sees Sully and Dez attempting to help a ghost and save a friend, both of whom have been targeted by someone intent on protecting the secrets of a coven of dark witches. The brothers will need to team up with disgraced former TV show personality, Wray Mallory, whose psychic ability to read objects will prove necessary if Sully and Dez are to solve the case and prevent more deaths.
Both series are available in e-book and paperback formats in Amazon stores worldwide, where they have achieved bestseller status. All are also available to read through the Kindle Unlimited program. The first six books in the Sullivan Gray Series are available as audiobooks as well, with the final book in that series coming soon to audio.
Polischuk spent more than 20 years as a newspaper crime reporter in Saskatchewan before leaving the profession earlier this year to write books full-time. While her novels have a paranormal element to them, Polischuk uses her crime reporting experience to inform her fiction writing, aiming to provide a realistic glimpse into investigative tactics, motivations and emotions connected with crime.
