Bjorkdale News: Arena, curling rink benfit from anonymous donor

The anonymous donor donated $5,000 towards the Bjorkdale skating rink and $2,000 to the Bjorkdale Curling Club.

BJORKDALE — An anonymous donor donated $5,000 towards the Bjorkdale skating rink and $2,000 to the Bjorkdale Curling Club.

The skating rink and curling rink board said they are appreciative of these donations as well as others throughout the year. If anyone or any business is interested in donating to the Bjorkdale skating rink or the Bjorkdale Curling club and would like an official tax donation receipt, you can stop at the Village office and any donation over $50, an official tax donation receipt can be given.

The Village of Bjorkdale wants to advise that garbage pick up for Tuesday, Dec. 26 will be rescheduled to Wednesday, Dec. 27. The Village office will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 27 and will reopen on its regular day, Friday, Dec. 29. The Village of Bjorkdale also received grant approval from the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) of $5,000 towards the Bjorkdale afterschool program. This funding has helped pay for: kids in the kitchen, Friday fun skates, art classes with Beth, sewing, knitting, wreath making and other fun after school activities.

Special guest speaker Madison Cameron will be speaking to Bjorkdale students on Dec. 13 on social media and staying true to themselves on social media. She will remind students that social media is not always as it seems and throughout her presentation, youth will gain insight into ways to stay safe online, understand how algorithms may affect your values and thought processes. Bjorkdale parents are welcome to attend parent sessions being held in Porcupine Plain on Dec. 13tat 7 p.m. and Tisdale on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

The Bjorkdale School will be holding their annual Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 21  at 7 p.m. at the Bjorkdale Community Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend. The Bjorkdale School will also be holding a winter feast on Friday, Dec. 22, the last day of school, at noon.
