Nearly 50 family members, friends, residents and dignitaries packed into council chambers on Nov. 18 to watch the new council’s inauguration, with the seven members swearing or affirming their oath of office before Judge Brian Hendrickson.

City hall has released the official numbers for the 2024 municipal election, which show how many people voted for the mayor, six city councillors, five public school trustees and four Catholic school trustees.

Ten candidates were vying for six councillor spots.

The Horizon School division elected new trustees to the board on Nov. 13 with eight trustees being acclaimed.

Rural municipalities of Nipawin, Moose Range and Barrier Valley held elections as well as the Village of Archerwill.

Sernick replaces Roy Ludwig, who didn't seek re-election after 12 years in the role.
