MOOSE JAW — Roughly 32 per cent of eligible voters — or about one in three people — , which is an increase of almost 10 per cent compared to 2020.
City hall released the official numbers for the 2024 municipal election on Nov. 15, which show how many people voted for the mayor, six city councillors, five public school trustees and four Catholic school trustees.
The total number of ballots cast was 8,761, with 21 ballots blank voted and 134 ballots over voted, leaving 8,606 legitimate ballots. The municipality had estimated there were 27,264 eligible voters this year.
Therefore, based on the total number of ballots cast, 32.14 per cent of all eligible voters participated in the 2024 civic election.
According to data from city hall, this year’s voter turnout is the second lowest in the past five municipal elections.
In 2020, 22.4 per cent of the electorate voted; 41 per cent cast a ballot in 2016; 38 per cent voted in 2012; 39.6 per cent cast a ballot in 2009; and 42.5 per cent voted in 2006.

Mayoral results
, while Coun. Crystal Froese received 1,439 votes, incumbent Mayor Clive Tolley received 601, Mike Simpkins acquired 571 votes and Coun. Kim Robinson received 494.
City council
Logan, a businessman who owns Strictly Fences, received 4,382 votes or roughly 51 per cent.
Boyle, an executive director for the Water Security Agency, received 3,662 votes or roughly 42.6 per cent.
Warren, the director of roadways and transportation for the City of Regina, received 2,666 votes or 31 per cent.
Eby, a registered massage therapist, received 2,574 votes or 29.9 per cent.
Luhning, a financial consultant, received 2,523 votes or 29.4 per cent.
Delaurier, a volunteer on several community boards, received 2,516 votes or roughly 29.3 per cent.
The votes cast for the remaining candidates were:

- Darrell Markin: 1,451 ballots
- Jamaal James: 1,376 votes
- Godwin Ezizor: 1,285 ballots
- Obeyaa Ampofo-Hunstad: 1,002 votes
- Tracy Zimmerman: 915 ballots
- Jana Horsnall: 855 votes
- Steven White: 846 ballots
- Jeff Goodnough: 683 votes
- Perry Haug: 533 ballots
- Zac Monchamp: 305 votes
Public school trustees
The number of votes cast for Moose Jaw-based trustees with Prairie Â鶹ÊÓƵ School Division included:
- Mary Jukes: 2,119 votes
- Boyle: 2,105 votes
- Brett Hagan: 2,061 votes
- Lew Young: 1,925 votes
- Tenielle McLeod: 1,706 votes
McLeod is the only new Moose Jaw trustee, while the others were incumbents.
Meanwhile, votes cast for the other candidates included:
- Brian Martynook: 1,494 ballots
- Kursty Bansley: 649 ballots
- Ron Gorham: 616 ballots
- Abdul Alabi: 483 ballots
Catholic school trustees
The number of votes cast for Moose Jaw-based trustees with Holy Trinity Catholic School Division included:
- Christine Boyczuk: 592 votes
- Derek Hassen: 559 votes
- Joann Blazieko: 547 votes
- Alison Bradish: 525 votes
Meanwhile, votes cast for the other candidate, Lee Moyse, was 435; the other four candidates were incumbents.
The new city council will be sworn in on Monday, Nov. 18, while its first meeting is Monday, Nov. 25.
