January has been proclaimed International Crime Stoppers Awareness Month

While on patrol a WPS member observed an individual well known to police, and when approached by the member, the individual tried to flee. The individual was caught by WPS.

The Melfort RCMP are investigating two separate incidents of theft that occurred within the detachment area over the past couple of days.

On Jan. 6 at approximately 9:50 p.m., police were called to a residence in the 500 block of 12th Street West for a report of an altercation between a male and female where a male had been stabbed.

The EPS dealt with 38 occurrences over the weekend including criminal harassment, theft, fraud and more.

Officers arrived and located the victim laying on the ground with what appeared to be gunshot wound(s).

On the evening of Jan. 4, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes located and arrested an adult male in relation to the death of 30-year-old Melanie Asham-Obey from Pasqua First Nation.

On Jan. 4 at approximately 1 a.m., police were dispatched to a home in the 1400 block of Cameron Street for the report of an armed robbery.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
