Hearing set for man accused of holding woman hostage 4 days

SASKATOON – A man accused of holding a woman hostage for four days in a basement wants a preliminary hearing.

A hearing to determine if there’s enough evidence for 26-year-old Jesse House to stand trial is set for Sept. 9 in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Co-accused Jarrod McKay’s matter has already gone to Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench and a trial date is yet to be scheduled.

According to SPS, paramedics called them to the 3200 block of Preston Avenue Â鶹ÊÓƵ around 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 10 saying a woman they treated had injuries consistent with an assault.

Police determined that the woman was held against her will in the basement of a house from Jan. 6 to Jan. 10.

The Saskatoon Police, SPS Tactical Unit, SPS Guns & Gang Unit, and SPS Canine Unit went to a home in the 200 block of Avenue L North and forced three people to come out of the home. Police say McKay remained inside and the SPS Canine Unit helped officers arrest him.

The charges against the accused haven’t been proven in court.
