Trial set for man accused of having explosives for dangerous purpose

Saskatoon Police say they found a stockpile of weapons when they arrested Jordan Viznei and Nicholas Viznei

SASKATOON – A trial has been set for a man facing weapons and drug-related charges.

Jordan Viznei’s trial starts July 22 in Saskatoon Provincial Court. He is charged with manipulating explosives with intent to cause death or bodily harm or cause serious damage to property, possession or control of an explosive substance, break and enter, three counts of carrying a prohibited/restricted weapon, ammunition or device in careless manner, five counts of possession of a firearm without a license, possession of prohibited/restricted weapon or device obtained by crime, possession of weapon knowing serial number altered or removed, and possession of drugs.

Saskatoon Police say that when they arrested Jordan Viznei and Nicholas Viznei they found a stockpile of weapons. Their arrest followed a raid of a home in the 200 block of Fairmont Drive on March 16.

Police had called in their Explosive Disposal Unit to dispose of a pipe bomb. They also seized a rifle with ammunition, shotgun with ammunition, ballistic soft body armour, 32 grams of powdered cocaine, and $160 in cash.

Nicholas Viznei is scheduled to appear in court July 14 to elect how he wants to be tried.

The charges against the accused haven't been tested in court.
