Headed to Kelowna there is sort of a dark spectre over any team from Saskatchewan, the reminder there has not been a Canadian men’s champion out of this province since Rick Folk in 1980.

The U15 Highway 9 Predators, with players from Canora, Norquay, Preeceville, Sturgis, Kamsack and Buchanan, battled to a 2-2 tie against the Esterhazy Flyers on Feb. 10.

The CCS Cougars senior girls basketball team hosted the Esterhazy Warriors on Feb. 12, with the Cougars prevailing 39-34 in a tightly-contested battle.

Among the teams advancing to regionals was the gold medal winning mixed rink from Canora.

The Canora Cobras opened their quest for a SEHL championship with a decisive 10-4 win over the visiting Wapella Blackhawks.

With the win, Yorkton’s sixth straight, the Terriers sit with a record of 31-16-1-0 for 63 points which moves the team into first place in the SJHL Viterra Division.

Hockey fans living near the City of Warman will soon see top-notch junior hockey games.
