MOOSE JAW — Three Moose Jaw streets are now on CAA’s Top 10 Worst Roads Campaign list, with Fifth Avenue Northwest increasing three spots and 13th Avenue Northwest and Coteau Street West making their first appearances.
As of April 22, Fifth Avenue Northwest had moved into fourth place , while 13th Avenue Northwest was tied for ninth with Warman Road in Saskatoon and Coteau Street West was in 10th place.
Sitting in first place was Highway 5 near Buchanan, followed by Highway 4 near Dorintosh in second and Highway 339 near Avonlea in third.
This week, Angel Blair, CAA’s Worst Roads roving reporter, did some door-knocking around the province and asked residents for their opinions about what the worst road is on which they drive. Many people — in Moosomin, Moose Jaw, Cupar, and elsewhere — with whom Blair spoke eagerly provided an answer when responding to the question.
“Some of them (roads) are good and some of them are absolutely terrible,” a Moosomin woman said. “Perhaps my most hated one is Broadway (Street) West for about two blocks west from Main Street.”
Said a Moosomin man, “For sure Highway 8 going to Rocanville is awful. Down this (road from his home) … the road is just a nice (deep) divot.”
Said a Moose Jaw man, “I hope they do the whole road and the sidewalk. It would be a big difference.”
From potholes to crumbling pavement to poor signage to a lack of infrastructure, the goal of CAA’s Worst Roads Campaign is to identify safety concerns and bring attention to roads on which residents depend, Blair said.
Road users who want to draw attention to roads that they feel are unsafe should vote in CAA’s Worst Roads Campaign by visiting , selecting a municipal or provincial road and a specific segment or section, and voting for it.
Nominate and vote for roads that have potholes, poor road maintenance, poor road signs or road markings, unpaved roads, traffic congestion, no or poor cycling infrastructure, or poor transit infrastructure, the organization says.
The CAA 2025 Top 10 Worst Roads will be announced on April 30. A grand prize of a $1,000 Shell Gift Card, courtesy of CAA Saskatchewan, will also be awarded to one winner selected through a random draw from all eligible votes.
The winner's name will be drawn on April 30.
CAA Worst Roads is an online engagement campaign aimed at drawing attention to the province’s worst, most unsafe roads. The top 10 worst roads for 2025 will be shared with key stakeholders, government, and business leaders in hopes of sparking conversation and action.
