MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask Stealth turned a season filled with success into a pair of Sask Lacrosse provincial championship gold medals on Thursday.
The Stealth claimed gold in both the U15 and U17 ‘A’ divisions, while the U13 Stealth won bronze as provincial tournaments get underway in Prince Albert.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask finished in first place with a 10-4 record in the three-team U17 league during regular season and received a bye to the final, where they’d battle to a 4-3 overtime win over the Saskatoon SWAT.
The Stealth were also tops in the regular season in the U15 division at 9-4-2 and opened with a 13-2 win over the Northern Predators before downing the SWAT 7-3 to claim gold.
The U13 crew didn’t have as much luck during the season with a 3-12-0 record, and they’d fall 12-5 to unbeaten Regina in their opener. The Stealth were able to rebound in style, though, claiming bronze with a 7-5 win over Saskatoon.
U17 Stealth 4, Saskatoon 3
Lachlan Clark emerged as the hero for the Stealth in the U17 gold medal game, scoring the overtime winner at 3:38 of the second overtime period.
It was the second goal of the game for Clark, who also had the first marker of the contest 1:31 into the proceedings. Ryder Gilroy also scored for the Stealth in the first as the two teams were tied after the opening frame.
Gilroy had the lone goal in the second period, and Sam Maxin tied the game for Saskatoon midway through the third.
James Mahussier and Zavier Grona had Saskatoon’s goals in the first period.
U15 Stealth 13, Predators 2
A five-goal first period set the tone in the U15 semifinal, and the Stealth wouldn’t look back on their way to their commanding win.
Jett Wallace led the way for Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask with two goals and four points, while Caiden Arnott had a goal and three points. Rylan Deichert and Cooper Fulton had a pair of markers each, Maddox Mohan, Jax Brown, Ryder Seiferling, Chayse Willoughby, Bentley Messner and Jasper Baan also scored.
Jake Eggerman scored both goals for the Predators, who trailed 11-2 through two periods.
U15 Stealth 7, Saskatoon 3
After each team scored once in the first, the Stealth poured in six goals in the second to take the four-goal win and the gold medal.
Baan scored twice for Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask, while Arnott had a goal and an assist and Wallace added a pair of helpers. Brown, Seiferling, Kyson Mac Angus and Bentley Bowerin all scored once each.
Drew Tolley, Ethan Medernach and Felix Morin scored for Saskatoon.
Regina 12, U13 Stealth 5
The Barracuda scored four goals in the first and built a 6-2 lead through two before adding another six goals in the third in the U13 semifinal.
Bodyn Dyke scored four times for Regina, Hudson Banga had a goal and four points, Paxton Williams scored twice and finished with three points to go along with a goal and three points from Holt Crossman. Braxton Fifield and Luke Ogrodnick scored the Barracuda’s other markers.
Josh Woods scored twice for Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask, Cooper MacNaughton added a goal and assist. Lee Brown and Josh Arnold had the other goals for the Stealth.
U13 Stealth 7, Saskatoon 5
Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask did almost all their damage in the first period, leading 5-1 after the opening frame, before Saskatoon came back to make a game of it, outscoring the Stealth 3-1 in the second. The teams then exchanged single markers in the third, and Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask would hang on for the bronze medal.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Sask offence was as balanced as could be, as Woods, Bennett Dunlop, Thomas Porter, Cruz Seaborg, Chaysen Seiferling, Keegan Flanagan and Tatum Thue each had a single goal. Julie Labrecque added a pair of assists.
Elias Ford led Saskatoon with three goals, Ashton Ewen and Merreck Pate had their other goals.
