KINDERSLEY -- A week of curling came down to a single game to qualify for the playoffs for Regina’s Kelly Knapp and Saskatoon’s Jason Jacobson at the SaskTel Tankard on Saturday afternoon.
And in the end, Knapp and his Highland foursome of third Brennan Jones, second Mike Armstrong and lead Trent Knapp would get the job done, scoring two in the seventh and stealing three in the third on their way to an 11-7 victory.
Knapp finishes with a 5-3 record and in fourth place, and as a result will take on Saskatoon’s Rylan Kleiter in the Page Playoff 3-4 game at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Kleiter and his Nutana rink of third Josh Mattern, second Matthew Hall and lead Trevor Johnston also finished at 5-3 after losing their final round robin game 7-2 to Martensville’s Dylan Derksen.
The Page Playoff 1-2 game participants had been decided Friday, with Swift Current’s Steve Layock, third Shaun Meachem, second Chris Haichert and lead Brayden Grindheim set to take on Saskatoon’s Dustin Kalthoff, third Joshua Heidt and lead Mat Ring. That contest will also be played at 8 p.m.
Laycock closed out his round robin with an 8-4 win over Saskatoon’s Brad Moser, while Kalthoff defeated Langenberg’s Charley Thomas 6-2.

The winner between Laycock and Kalthoff will advance directly to the Tankard final on Sunday, with the loser dropping down to face the winner of Kleiter and Knapp in the semifinal.
The semifinal will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, with the winner there advancing to the title game at 7 p.m.
