MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- Some of the top girls fastball teams in western Canada will be taking the field in the Friendly City this weekend during the annual Moose Jaw and District Minor Girls Fastball ‘A’ tournament.
Action will take place in the Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 divisions at diamonds all over the city, with Moose Jaw teams medal hopefuls in all three age classes.
A total of nine teams will take the field in the U11 division, including the Moose Jaw Ice Crushers and Moose Jaw Ice Breakers.
The Crushers will play their round robin games against the Regina Saints (4:30 p.m. Friday, Optimist 3) and Estevan Elite (10 a.m. Saturday, Optimist 2) while the Breakers open against Storm Softball (6:45 p.m. Friday, Optimist 2) and Prince Albert Aces Fiddler (8 a.m. Saturday, Optimist 2).
Teams will then move into a double knockout draw, with the ‘A’ side final set for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Optimist Park Diamond 3.
The U13 division is the busiest of the weekend, featuring 12 teams. The Ice take on the Regina Royals Reapers (4:15 p.m. Friday, Memorial Field) and Muenster A’s (6:15 p.m. Friday, Memorial Field) in their round robin, with the championship final at 2:50 p.m. on Sunday at Optimist Park Diamond 1.
The U15 division sees nine teams in action, including the U15 A Ice and U15 B Ice.
The U15 A Ice open against the Hustlers (4:30 p.m. Friday, Eddy Moore Diamond 2) and follow up against the Meadow Lake Sox (10 a.m. Saturday, Eddy Moore Diamond 1), while the U15 B Ice duel the Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Sun Devils (6 p.m., Friday, Eddy Moore Diamond 1) and Â鶹ÊÓƵ Bow River Rockies (8 p.m. Friday, Eddy Moore Diamond 1). The championship final goes at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Eddy Moore Park Diamond 1.
