WEYBURN – The Weyburn Wrestling Club had four wrestlers go to Saskatoon on March 10 for the SAWA provincials for Bantam, Cadet, and Juvenile, and all of them won medals, including one gold, one silver and bronze.
Here are the results from the SAWA provincials were as follows:
In the U15 48kg category, Ephraim Henning won third for bronze; for U17 49kg, Avlynn Drake won first for gold; in the U17 57kg category, Khloe Higgins won third for bronze, and for the U17 51kg category, Chris Dayaan won second for silver.
The next and final tournament of the wrestling club is the SAWA provincials on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Cugnet Centre. This will be for the SAWA Freshie, Novice and Peewee categories.
The 2024 SHSAA high school provincial championship was held in Saskatoon on March 8-9.
A total of five wrestlers went to the tournament, but unfortunately no medals came home.
Here are the results from this tournament: in the Female 50kg category, Avlynn Drake placed fourth; in the Female 56kg category, Khloe Higgins didn't make it to the rankings.
In the Male 65kg category, Trotter Drake placed fourth; in the Male 115 kg category, Raiden Kiraly placed fourth, and in the Male 53kg category, Chris Dayaan came in sixth.
