Saskatchewan pea producers were shocked by India鈥檚 announcement on November 10 that it has slapped a 50 per cent import duty on Canadian peas, effective immediately.

A total of 47,033 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan this week, up substantially from 31,948 head sold the previous week, and up from 44,823 head the same week a year ago, reported Saskatchewan Agriculture for the week ending October 27.

The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held its pre-sorted Charolais cross and/or exotic calf and yearling sale on October 31 with 2,828 head sold. There were seven weight categories of steer calves and yearlings sold.

Harvest has all but wrapped up for producers in the province as 99 per cent of the crop is now combined, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture for the week ending October 23.
