It was a full house for The Cougars Give Back To The Community Night against the Arcola/Kisbey Combines on Friday.  It is always great to see all of the support from our local community and from our opposing teams.

Thank you to everyone who came out that night!  We raised $1,700 that was then donated to KidSport, an organization that we are happy to support, as it keeps kids active and they receive all the benefits from being part of an organized sport.  In lieu of admission, fans were asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to our Carlyle Food Bank and they did!  A special thank you to Jace Fisher, Karli Colpitts, Tyler Colpitts and Hunter Colpitts for delivering all of the food for us.

We’d like to mention our two MVP’s of the game; Kip Geiger and Keegan Morrson who skated out with the boys to help them get started.   Thank you to Jacquie Walbaum who kindly sang O Canada for us.

To the game, both teams tried hard to get on the board first and Ty Currie opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal, 17 minutes into the game.  The Combines’ Noah Roy, got the second period rolling, scoring 5 minutes into the period.  Walker Hengen decided to give their team a 2-1 lead, scoring unassisted.

One of the most exciting things in a hockey game is a penalty shot.  The crowd erupted into cheers after Marc Shaw made his way down the ice and scored a beauty goal making it a tie game.  A pass from Kelly Currie to Nathen Deck gives the lead back to the Cougars and it’s onto the third.

A power play goal scored by Ben Johnstone with assists going to Kelly Currie and Landon Audette gets the third fired up, just 3 minutes in.

In the end the Cougars skated away with a 6-3 win.
