The 87th Hardy Cup will be played at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon on Saturday November 9. The University of Saskatchewan Huskies will host the University of Regina Rams.

Both the Huskies and Rams scored upset Canada West playoff victories last week. The fourth-place University of Regina Rams scored the go-ahead touchdown with 19 seconds left in their 28-25 upset win over the top-ranked Manitoba Bisons. Meanwhile, in Vancouver, the Huskies erased an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit on their way to a 38-33 victory over the University of British Columbia.

Ahead of the Championship game, the Canada West Conference revealed their all-star teams.

Regina lineman Tarick Polius, defensive backs Brandon Wong, Dolan Robinson, and Jackson Sombach, and Huskie linebacker Seth Hundeby were recognized on defence.

Polius joined the Rams this season out of the Okanagan Suns junior program. He led all Canada West linemen with 26.5 tackles during the regular season. He tied for third in the conference with 3.5 sacks and was fourth in Canada West with 6.5 tackles for loss.

Wong was a unanimous all-star selection. In seven regular-season games, the linebacker had 15 solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles, an interception, a pass breakup, and a sack.

The Rams primarily used Robinson as a shutdown corner. Despite missing a pair of games due to injury he ended up with eight solo tackles, seven assisted tackles, and a pass breakup.

Sombach, a defensive back, played in all eight regular season games and registered an interception and a team-leading six pass breakups. Sombach, who was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in 2024, also finished the year with 16 solo tackles, seven assisted tackles, and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Hundeby, a fourth-year engineering student, recorded 29 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble in eight games this season.

Offensively, Saskatchewan tackle Jack Warrack, receiver Daniel Wiebe, and running backs Ryker Frank and Kody Gutek were saluted.

Frank a former Leboldus Golden Sun running back, is no stranger to Canada West awards. In 2022, he was named an all-star and the Student-Athlete Community Service Award Winner. In 2024, he carried the ball 152 times for 952 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Gutek, from Martensville, Saskatchewan, is primarily used as a tight end and full back in the Huskies' offence. He ended the regular season with 11 receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown in eight games.
