Golf club had a successful year

The newly drilled water well is already paying dividends with the Carlyle Golf Club’s two dugouts brimming with water.

CARLYLE - The Carlyle Golf Club recently held its final board meeting of the season and announced that all fees for 2022 will remain unchanged.

“While the golf course had a great year in 2020, 2021 was even better,” said president Steve Hirtle. “Season memberships, walk-on green fees, cart rentals, beer and liquor sales, all revenue sources were substantially higher. Steve Polsom, Kal Harper and the grounds crew kept the course in excellent shape and for the most part we enjoyed great weather.

“We also began golfing a month earlier than normal and had a fantastic start to 2021. Clubhouse manager Terri Field did a great job as did the entire clubhouse staff. Both Steve and Terri have advised that nearly all their staff, including themselves, are returning for 2022. And, of course, we want to thank our members for their loyal support of the Carlyle Golf Club.”

The golf club and its board had an aggressive spending plan in 2021 and after renovating the clubhouse last winter, also rebuilt the clubhouse deck and added a patio. A 2020 Kubota tractor was also purchased and a new secondary water well was successfully drilled to provide the course with drought protection.

Hirtle advised that over $100,000 was spent, but no funds had to be redeemed from savings. Added Hirtle: “We have a strong core of high quality volunteers and a full allotment of board members. During the last two months of the year, there was a noticeable rise in hosting smaller tournaments and we expect this favourable trend to continue. As well, with our additional water source, we expect to be golfing year round on lush fairways in addition to playing on our beautifully manicured greens.”

Next year’s membership rates, including early-bird details, will be updated soon on the Carlyle Golf Club Facebook page.
