During the summer, a fun activity enjoyed by many involves playing slow pitch. Many teams are created specifically for tournaments held throughout the year, while 11 teams from the Moose Mountains enjoy playing every Friday.

Throughout June and July, teams from Wawota, Manor, Carlyle, White Bear, and Arcola enjoy friendly rivalry, an evening of exercise, and a night to enjoy the company of friends.

Each Friday teams would compete as the 11 teams took part in a round-robin style league competition.

The league, which has been enjoyed for numerous years, hosted its championships in Carlyle on Saturday, Aug. 9. Although all teams were not able to attend, there were seven present to compete in a double elimination championship.

Teams competed for bragging rights as they fought for the wins throughout the day. Bad Eggs of Arcola earned third place after being knocked out in a tight match-up against Jessie's Team of White Bear as they each attempted to get to the final.

In the end Swinging Nuts of Arcola and Jessie's Team would battle in the final game with Jessie's Team clinching victory and earning the bragging rights for this year's 2014 Moose Mountain Slowpitch League.
