Two beautiful days of sun and golf coalesced at Golf Kenosee for the Zone PGA Championship held by PGA of Saskatchewan.

The tournament determined four champions including the PGA Saskatchewan Champion, Assistant Golf Pro Champion, Senior Champion, and Female Champion, though everyone golfed together.

"The association was formed for club professionals," Jamie Windjack, President of PGA Saskatchewan explained. "We had a lot of great players and it came down to the last couple of holes."

It was on Sunday, July 20, that the golf pros arrived to Kenosee where they took in a practice round to prepare for the two-day event.

Local golf pros, Kyle Mulligan and Jordan Fenwick, both of Golf Kenosee, took part in the tournament. It was Fenwick's first PGA Saskatchewan, which was extremely exciting as he was able to showcase his skills on his home course.

Mulligan ended up tying for 10th place with a score of 151, while Fenwick was able to tie for fourth shooting a 148 on the course between the two rounds.

In the end Pat Marcia would earn the PGA Champion and the Assistant Champion, while Scott Knapp earned the Senior Champion title, and Bobbi Brandon took home to Female Champion title. Champions received cash for their efforts and will have a small plaque engraved and placed onto the Championship trophies.

"Basically we had a great three days here including the practice round," Windjack stated. "We had 32 guys out and the golf course was phenomenal. The hospitality was first class with amazing volunteers; we don't see that very often and it's an added value for us."

"As a resort course though it sort of clicks, people are on holidays and are able to come out and watch."

Windjack and others all commented on Golf Kenosee and the efforts of Mulligan.

"Kyle has done a great job with the staff, with food and beverage, and with the volunteers, he's really done well," Windjack said.
