District golf playoffs for the Â鶹ÊÓƵ East District Athletic Association were held on Monday, Sept. 15, at Golf Kenosee.

A group of 55 youth, consisting mostly of male participants and six female golfers took to the course to showcase their skills.

With long drives, tough chips, and pressure putting the youth had a good day. The weather was well suited to golfing, unlike last year's sleet and fog.

Seventeen schools from across the southeast from Carnduff to Yellowgrass and up to Rocanville came out for the tournament to see who would move on to compete in Nipawin for Provincials this weekend.

Each school could bring four golfers in both male and female categories, while a male and female team competition was also open. Boys in the team needed at least three golfers and girls required a minimum of two to form teams.

In the end Kane Altwasser of Yellowgrass took first place advancing for the boy's category shooting an 80. He was followed closely behind by Walker Hengen of Arcola and Mark Freitag of Lampman each shooting an 82.

Kelly Kae of Maryfield would take first place in the girl's category with a score of 103. Two strokes behind her was Amber Stewart of Rocanville and in third place Redvers' Cheyenne Henrion shot a 109.

Teams advancing included the Estevan Comp for both boys and girls.
