The Cougars were on the road for their last 2 of 3 regular season games this past weekend.Ìý

Thursday, Jan. 24, it was off to Yellow Grass to take on the first placed team.Ìý Miller and Mellon got things rolling for the Wheat Kings, scoring with just 22 seconds into the first period and then again with 8 minutes left.Ìý Jacob Chalus wasn’t going to let the first end with a two-goal lead, as he scores an unassisted goal to end the period.Ìý Yellow Grass made it a 5-1 game in the second with 3 goals being scored by their big guns.Ìý

It was a quick game to watch and the Cougars worked hard trying to get any chance they could to put one on net. The game ended in an 8-2 victory for the Wheat Kings asÌý they were able to net 3 more and Cooper Fox, with the assist from Ty Currie, got the lone Cougar goal in the third.Ìý

Saturday, Jan. 26, was a must win for the Cougars as they were on the road to Midale.Ìý A win would keep them out of the bottom half of the standings and into a guaranteed play-off position.Ìý

The previous seven times that these two teams have met, the Cougars have lost by only one goal!ÌýÌý It was also time to turn the tables on that record.Ìý Giving the Cougars the lead off the bat, with both goals being scored in the first 6 minutes were, Cooper Fox and Brett Turgeon.Ìý Assisting their goals were: Kelly Currie, Tyler Fleck (with assists on both goals) and Ty Currie.Ìý Midale wanted to keep their streak against the Cougars going and Burk got them on the board before the first ended. Midale’s only goal that was scored in the second was on a penalty shot, as Burk scored again.Ìý Audet has had a number of penalty shots taken on him this year and has been a brick wall!Ìý

The Cougars kept things rolling with Turgeon and Greenwood each netting one in the second.Ìý Morrision, McLean and Belanger got the helpers.Ìý

It was a 4-2 game heading into the third.Ìý Both teams wanted this one bad and neither team was letting up. Midale made it 4-3, just two minutes into the third.Ìý

Belanger replied, sneaking one in with help from Geiger and Lequyer.Ìý There were 5 minutes left, when Midale’s Lindenback, netted one, closing the gap to 1 goal.Ìý

Veteran, Kelly Currie, secured the win, scoring with under 2 minutes left. Josh Brown and Cooper Fox got the assists.Ìý The onegoal curse has ended!Ìý ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý

The Cougars head back up in the standings with 22 points, along with Carnduff and Redvers.

This Friday, Feb. 1, the Cougars play their last regular season game against the Wawota Flyers.Ìý It is Pharmasaves Chance To Win $25,000!Ìý See you at the rink!
