CARLYLE - Despite the odds, the Carlyle Karate Club had a very successful season last year.

The club opened their own dojo in November 2020 after the pandemic protocols prevented the use of the elementary school gym, which was the club’s dojo for the past 25 years.

The new dojo is located in Bay 3 along Highway 13/9, right beside Living Skies CrossFit. The new dojo allowed the club to continue training in person, with the students while following the provincial pandemic protocols. Due to the restrictions placed on group sizes, the karate club held classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from November till the end of June to accommodate their enrollment.

The club is looking forward to a return to regular training for the 2021-22 season. In-person training in larger groups and the return of contact and kumite training are always a popular part of the martial arts experience.

The club is also eager to resume tournament and clinic participation.

Registration for 2021-22 karate classes will be held on Sept. 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the dojo. Regular classes will begin the following Tuesday.
