A group of 25 young golfers came together on Wednesday, Aug. 27, to enjoy the annual Jr. Golf Tournament at the Carlyle Golf Course.

Coming together on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Carlyle Golf Course were a group of 25 youth interested in taking part in the annual Junior Golf Tournament.

There were a total of seven youth competing in the 10 and under category, while the remaining 18 competed for the championship.

The event is one that the Carlyle Golf Club happily hosts as it provides a venue to encourage young golfers to take up the game.

Though the organization was up to the club, Kruz and Jennifer Wilson, brother and sister from Manor, offered their assistance in finding sponsors for the event.

"They canvassed for prizes," Myrla Holland explained. "This is my first year running it and they were a good source of knowledge, very helpful."

The support from the community was forthcoming and Holland says she was very pleased and thankful for their assistance.

Kiri Biberdorf was present to assist the 10 and under group with their round of golf.

The tournament came with a lunch barbeque and drink, as well as the round of golf through payment of a small registration fee.

With clear, sunny skies and a bit of a breeze the young golfers were off to enjoy the course.

In the end Kruz Wilson and Jesse Moffat took first place in the championship flight with a score of 63. They were followed by Daniel Pouschuk and Austin Valentine who shot a 64, while third place was tied with a score of 73 between Jayden Currie and his partner Blake Nicholson and Dawson Cutler and his partner Hayden Cutler.
