The 2018 edition of the “Big Moose” baseball tournament returned to Kenosee Lake and Carlyle's Lions Park, Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1 - Canada Day.
The host team - the Carlyle Cardinals - welcomed eight Senior Mens teams to three days of play, which ended with the Saskatoon Outlaws winning the top title over the Swift Current Yard Goats, with a game score of 4-2 and wrapping up a weekend of baseball frequently interrupted by rain.
This year's teams included the hometown Cardinals, as well as the Arm River Indians, the Beulah (North Dakota) Blackjaws, the Estevan Taphouse Wolves, the Marysburg Royals, the Muenster Red Sox, the Saskatoon Outlaws, the Saskatoon Stallions and the Swift Current Yard Goats.
The Cardinals first game on Friday night ended in a 10-6 loss to Arm River. On Saturday, the Cards took on the Saskatoon Outlaws, with the game ending in a 5-2 defeat for Carlyle. The Cardinals final game on Sunday against Muenster ended in a 14-1 victory for Carlyle.
The Cardinals' next regular season game will take place at Carlyle's Lions Park on Friday, July 6 at 6:30 p.m., where the Cards will host the Kenosee Cubs.
