Meeting

Carlyle town council had a meeting on May 5.

Many items were discussed at this meeting, such as the mill rate for the year. The mill rate for 2021 is at 8.7 mills, which is up from last year’s 8.0 mills, but with property revaluations, residents should notice a decrease in their property tax levy. Notices will be mailed out in mid-May.

The airport received a grant through the Government of Saskatchewan’s Community Airport Partnership Program in the amount of $33,911.00 this year. This amount will cover about half of the costs for the airport projects, which include a slurry seal on the runway, installing a new ceilometer and repainting the lines.

At this meeting, council also approved $16,256 in grant funds through the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program for sport, culture, and recreation to seven different groups in the town.

Council also approved the purchase of an automated communication platform called All-Net Connect.  This communication tool will allow the town to communicate with residents on any platform including text, email, smartphone and landlines. More information will be shared through the town website and upcoming newsletters on how to sign up for the service as it gets established.

The next town council meeting is scheduled for May 19.
