Elizabeth Debusschere, lovingly called Lizzie by the staff at the New Hope Lodge in Stoughton.

Lizzie will be reaching a milestone on Thursday, July 3, as she will be turning 100-years-old. Though in a short interview she explained multiple times that "It's really not that special."

She was a woman of few words in her interview with The Observer, but did have a few to say about her life.

Lizzie said she grew up on a farm near Forget, which is where she was born. Here she enjoyed going to school and explained she always had to walk. Laughing she also described herself as an angel when asked if she had gotten into much trouble as a youth.

The youth used to play games with each other and Lizzie smiled saying, "We used to chase after each other."

On the farm they had horses and cows. One of the chores she didn't mind was in fact milking the cows each day.

Over the years Lizzie finished school and later found a husband who she had three boys and a daughter with.

Lizzie was a member of the Catholic Women's League and she smiled remembering how she never missed going to church on Sunday's

"Even when it was raining," Lizzie chuckled.

Lizzie was also an avid gardener with a large plot, which she tended to keeping her busy.

They had to go uptown walking to go get different things from various stores.

Lizzie also explained that she had always enjoyed dancing and even 10 years ago, upon turning 90-years-old she was up moving to the beat.

"Ah, the days gone by," she explained.

With her birthday on July 3, a celebration was held on the weekend of June 28 to mark Lizzie's 100th birthday. Though she says it is nothing special, many others disagreed as they explained it's not every day you find someone who's lived for a century.
