聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Conservative candidate Robert Kitchen is the new Member of Parliament for the Souris-Moose Mountain riding. The Estevan chiropractor won 70 per cent of the vote on Monday's Oct. 19 federal election, taking over the seat held by long time Conservative MP Ed Komarnicki. Komarnicki stepped down just prior to the 2015 federal contest after winning his seat in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Kitchen, who received 19,497 votes, called his victory, 鈥淭he most exhilarating day of my life,鈥 adding, 鈥淚'm very humbled and honoured.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Vicky O'Dell of the NDP and Liberal candidate Steven Bebbington each received 14 per cent of the vote, while Bob Deptuck of the Green Party of Canada received 3 percent at the polls.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This year's voter turnout was the largest since 1993, with 68.5 per cent of eligible voters-or 17.6 million Canadians-coming out to cast their ballots.
