SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - For the first time in months, Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for southern Saskatchewan, including Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Moosomin and surrounding areas.

A total of 52 RMs were affected.

The warning, issued early Saturday, says snowfall with total amounts of 10-15 centimetres is expected.

"A low-pressure system moving in from Montana will result in heavy snowfall today for parts of southeastern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba," the warning stated. "Latest model guidance and radar trends indicate heavy snowfall is likely with generally eight to 12 centimetres falling by Sunday morning."

Locally higher amounts of 15 centimetres are possible over the higher terrain in the Moose Mountains and Riding Mountains.

Snow was expected taper off late Saturday and into the overnight hours as the low weakens and moves into eastern Manitoba.
