Legacy Oil and Gas was happy to host an open house in the community of Arcola at the Legion as a way to meet people in the area. This was a success, but an even more important aspect of the day came with Legacy's dedication to the community.

Colin Page, Surface Land Manager with Legacy, spoke to two different groups in Arcola about the importance of community.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., Page stopped by the construction site of the new multi-purpose building that the Arcola Fair and Stampede Board have been working diligently on. Here he was shown the plans for the building and was told that Legacy's donation of $26,000, which came with naming rights, meant that the Fair Board would be able to finish the building before the end of June, a very important time for them.

Not only will the Fair Board be able to unveil the new multipurpose building, replacing the barn that burnt down in 2011, they will be able to use the structure on June 28 and 29 for the Arcola Antique Ag Daze.

Nora Stewart, was pleased that Legacy was the company to claim naming rights because of its fitting name: "Arcola is called The Heritage Town, so having a company named Legacy obtain naming rights is very fitting, even the colours of the barn match, the white and red, which is very nice."

While standing amongst the Fair Board committee, Page explained how impressed he was with the town having noted unique shops in Arcola, while reiterating the importance of community to Legacy.

Following this presentation Page made his way back to the Legion where others with Legacy were speaking with community members during their open house.

While here Legacy welcomed Arcola Optimist members Blake Brownridge and Glen Lawson. The Optimist members were pleased to receive a donation of $5,000 from Legacy to be used within two projects the Optimists are currently working on: a new roof on the Legion and the restoration of the outside of the MacMurray theatre.

Again Page explained how important community is to them despite coming from Calgary as they have numerous employees in the area who use the facilities or even live in the community or surrounding area.
