Jacqui Beckett of Moosomin has been an artist for most of her adult life. A retired teacher, she uses water colours, acrylics and paints on silk fabric, along with teaching classes in silk painting.

Beckett works with Jerri Laird, Holly Dauvin and Ken Frederickson to promote the Artist Colony and it is their combined dream to build a teaching building, along with more cottages. She has taken part in both the Assiniboia Retreat and the Shellmouth retreat near Russell, MB.

This year she is working on canvases painted with red, then blending over top to warm the colours of the painting, leaving pops of red as a part of the scene. She has taken only one university art class and a few workshops and belongs to the Hamiota Art club. Pottery is one of her most recent ventures and she is excited to see where it will take her.
