CP Holiday Train will again hold virtual concert

Weyburn will not see the bright colours of the CP Holiday Train for a second year

For the second year in a row, the brightly-lit CP Holiday Train will not be passing through the southeast area, with instead a virtual “Holiday Train at Home” concert to be offered.

The virtual concert can be seen on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. (Mountain Time) or 8 p.m. ET, when the concert can be viewed on Facebook, YouTube and online at cpr.ca.

The musical guests will include The Strumbellas, singer Tanika Charles, singer Steven Page, singer Sierra Noble, singer and blues guitarist Keb Mo, the band The Trews, First Nations singer-songwriter Aysanabee and the band The Odds.

Steven Page was formerly the lead singer and guitarist for the Barenaked Ladies, and he has continued with a solo career.

The Strumbellas are a six-member band who gained popularity with their pop-folk single, Spirits, a hit across North America and Europe.

The Trews played on the Holiday Train when it stopped in Weyburn a few years ago, and have had several radio hits.

The website for CP Rail will also be taking donations which will go to support the food banks along the rail routes, including the Weyburn food bank operated by the Salvation Army.
