The City of Weyburns local improvement program has yet to get underway for 2010, but is likely to get started this week or next week, depending when the contractors are able to get to the city, said assistant engineer Rene Richard. Most crews are behind right now due to the weather, he explained. We have ASL Paving coming to do some recapping either this week or next week, and Mid-West Concrete of Moose Jaw is coming to do some sidewalk replacements. He expressed the hope it wont take the contractors very much longer as August is soon approaching, and the list of local improvements to be done this year is fairly extensive.New asphalt paving is slated for Fifth Avenue SE from Fourth Street to Confederation Drive, and on the south service road from 18th Street to No. 1850.Street recapping is set for several locations, including the following: all of McLelland Bay; all of Staveley Crescent; Sixth Avenue SE from Confederation Drive to Moffet Drive; Assiniboia Street from First Avenue to Prairie Avenue; Fifth Street from First Avenue to Maple Drive; 13th Street from Hartney Avenue to Park Avenue; Sixth Street from Railway Avenue to Souris Avenue; 18th Street from Coteau to East Avenue; Brimacombe Drive from Douglas Road north to the bend; Coteau Avenue from Fourth to Fifth Street; Souris Avenue from Sixth to Seventh, and Eighth to Ninth Streets; Second Avenue SE from Third to Fourth Street; East Avenue from 17th to 18th Streets; Alexandra Street from First Avenue to Second Avenue NW; and the asphalt lane north and east of Block 138, from First Avenue north and east to 13th Street. The concrete sidewalk replacements will take place on the north side of Souris Avenue from Sixth Street west to the lane; the south side of Fourth Avenue SE from Third to Fourth Street; on the east side of Government Road from the lane south of No. 116 for 29.5 metres north; and on the west side of Ninth Street from First Avenue to Hartney Avenue.
