On Wednesday, December 11 the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #248 held its Christmas Party and meeting. The night featured a presentation of funds to different charities and a potluck turkey supper. President Nedra Clark called on Wendy Rounce to say Grace.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 At the end of a delicious meal, the Legion presented cheques to three very worthy organizations. The funds were raised through the Legion鈥檚 Poppy Trust Fund Campaign in November.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The first presentation was to STARS Ambulance in the Amount of $5,200. Tammy Beauregard from STARS Regina graciously accepted the donation. Also on hand from STARS was Ryan Gobeil.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Next up was Moose Mountain Lodge which received a cheque for 鈥渨ound care鈥 in the amount of $3,200. Accepting this cheque was Candy Bye and Danielle Benjamin.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The final cheque of $500, which will be matched by Nutrien, was presented to Theresa Leudtke for the Carlyle and District Food Bank.
Also on hand this night was Dianne Twietmeyer of the Cornerstone Theatre who presented a cheque in the amount of 1,237.80 to the Carlyle and Area Food Bank.
The evening was finished off with a regular meeting of the Legion. Legion Branch #248 in Carlyle is in it鈥檚 74th year and currently has 38 members. The Legion first met in the Memorial Hall which was destroyed by fire and then met in the present day hall until it took it鈥檚 home at it 319-5th Street West in Carlyle. This building used to be the Carleton Junction School,聽 which was moved to Carlyle from south of the community.
