Car lovers show off their ride every Friday night in Kipling

KIPLING - A car show brings together enthusiasts who are interested in restoring or modifying all types of vehicles, or maybe it’s just to swap stories about their muscle cars.

Terrence Stanley says he found a flyer on his window one day a few weeks ago (put there by Travis Young) about having a car meet on the upcoming Friday of that week.

The two fellows in Kipling decided it was time to start up something like this in town.

Stanley and Young, both of Kipling, had the idea to start up a car show for anyone that loves everything about cars, trucks and motorbikes. Whether it’s getting together to talk about your ride or just showing off the leather interior, either way it’s just a lot of fun.

Travis Young of Kipling has owned his 2015 Challenger SRT 392 for only a month.

“I wanted a car to play around with for the summer,” says Young. “I use it as my daily car.”

“My whole plan was…I was going to buy the car and start an Instagram channel and talk about a daily driven muscle car.”

“So, my whole goal is just to kind of show that it’s not as scary to daily drive these cars as you might think,” says Young. “Right now I’m averaging about 10.2 L per 100 kilometres.”

Stanley says he started posting the event on social media hoping to attract more attention to other car lovers.

“The first week we had a really good turnout,” says both Young and Stanley.

Stanley’s car is a 2014 Ford Mustang GT that has the fifth generation 302 Coyote engine. He says he’s pushing 430 horsepower with 95 pounds of torque and has a whole roush exhaust set up for it as well as a Stage 1 shift kit. He plans to add racing stripes and decals one day.

He also uses this as his daily car.

“I’m not sure I want to put it through another winter though,” says Stanley, and chuckles as he adds, “I managed to get stuck only twice this past winter so that’s not too bad.”

“I have always been huge into cars, I love cars. Especially Mustangs. That’s always been my favourite car since I was a kid. I love all makes of classic cars.”

“For our first couple of meets, it’s turned out awesome,” comments both Stanley and Young.

So the two organizers encourage you to come out and talk about cars, motorbikes or trucks. Whatever make or model you have, cruise on over to the show in Kipling every Friday night.

That’s just what Barry and Wendy Anderson did. The couple from Saskatoon, who were spending the weekend at Kenosee, heard about the show and decided to make the trip to Kipling to see what it was all about driving in their 2020 2.3-litre High Performance Turbo Mustang convertible.
