Man arrested for mischief following domestic disturbance report

ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service (EPS) officers responded to several incidents on Oct. 25, including a domestic disturbance and an impaired driving case.

Police were called to a residence following a report of a domestic disturbance, resulting in the arrest of a 22-year-old man for mischief. He was lodged in cells, and the matter remains under investigation. No further details were immediately available.

In another incident, EPS officers responded to a report of a collision in the 700 block of King Street. Witnesses stated that the driver of the vehicle appeared to be impaired. A 42-year-old man from Estevan was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the police station, where he provided two breath samples, each nearly three times over the legal limit. He was lodged in cells and was to be released once sober. No injuries were reported, but the parked vehicle sustained significant damage.

Police also conducted several curfew checks, with all individuals found at home.

Earlier in the week, on Oct. 23, EPS members monitored school bus stops and school zones, with no traffic offenses reported.

The EPS received a report of a possible break-in at a vacant apartment. Officers searched the premises but did not find anyone inside.

Police conducted a well-being check on a local woman, who was found safe in her residence.

Officers were dispatched to an east-central Estevan residence following a report of a man in possible emotional distress. The 42-year-old man was transported to the hospital for further assessment after being spoken to at length by police. Following the incident, a search warrant was obtained, leading to the seizure of multiple firearms and ammunition from the residence. The matter remains under investigation.

In another call, police and EMS responded to a north-central Estevan residence where a woman was reported to be in medical distress on Oct. 24. She was conscious and alert and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

EPS members also investigated a report of a pickup truck driving on the wrong side of the street in north Estevan, nearly colliding with an oncoming vehicle. Officers were dispatched, but the vehicle was not located.

Police were called to an east Estevan medical center regarding an uncooperative patient. Officers successfully de-escalated the situation, and the patient eventually became cooperative. No further issues were reported.
