聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 If you've ever attended or worked at Arcola School, consider yourself invited to attend the school's reunion this summer-Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30-at Prairie Place Hall.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he committee has been working to track down as many former students and staff as possible,鈥� says organizer Raylene Forseth. 鈥淲e've sent out letters, we've set up a Facebook page, but if we鈥檝e somehow missed you, please consider yourself welcome.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淣ot only are we trying to track down as many students as we can, we'd also like to invite teachers and support staff.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲hether you've attended or worked at Arcola School for a long time or a short time, we'd like to welcome you to the 2016 Arcola School Reunion.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淎nd whether you graduated from school or not, if you attended the school, you're welcome,鈥� adds committee member Lori Singleton. 鈥淪o far, we have 300 people interested. The class of 1964 was the first class at the present school. But my mom, Maureen Singleton is trying to get in touch with classes who attended the old school.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Singleton says the reunion committee has ensured that the event will have ample space for all.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e've rented Prairie Place Hall and if we need to open things up, we've also arranged to use the rink part of the building if we need to.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The two-day gathering features Friday night registration, complete with cash bar and lunch. On Saturday, things kick off with a fashion show featuring grad fashions through the years as well as a聽 cash bar, supper and dance.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e're asking anyone who can to bring their old grad dresses, grad suits, tuxes or even just their grad jackets with them for a fashion show,鈥� says Forseth. 鈥淲e've already arranged the models. We'll also have a wall devoted to memorabilia, so we're asking people to bring their old yearbooks or any school souvenirs or memories they'd like to share.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭hey can just bring them that day-there's no need to worry about sending them ahead.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Both women stress that everyone who has a connection to Arcola School is welcome to attend the reunion, and they urge former staff and students to print out the registration form on the Arcola School Reunion 2016 Facebook page or contact members of the reunion committee by emailing: [email protected].
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he cost per adult is $50,鈥� says Forseth. 鈥淎nd children are free. The fee just helps us to cover the cost of renting the hall and the other expenses involved.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he deadline to register is May 1,鈥� says Singleton. 鈥淪ome people have though that liking the page on Facebook registers you, but we really need them to print out the registration form and get it to us.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淎ll of the information is on the Facebook page,鈥� adds Singleton. 鈥淭hey can message us there with any questions or they can get in touch with a committee member or their class rep. There's a list of class reps on the Facebook page, too.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t will be pretty casual,鈥� says Forseth.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淎nd it will be really nice to reconnect and reminisce.鈥�
