SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - A portion of Highway 39 was closed Saturday afternoon due to a collision.
According to the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's Highway Hotline, the collision occurred three kilometres southeast of Weyburn. All lanes were closed. Police were on site and motorists were asked to use an alternate route.
"Use extreme caution while travelling in the area," stated the Highway Hotline.
Most highways in the Weyburn area were reportedly covered for much of Saturday, with such issues as loose snow, slush and ice, thanks to a winter storm striking the southeast.
Highways elsewhere in the southeast were also covered, including some stretches of Highway 1.
Some highways in the Carlyle area were covered earlier in the day, but were later upgraded to clear with good visibility. Highways in the Estevan area were also bare and have good visibility, although they were partially covered earlier in the day.
A snowfall warning was issued early Saturday for the southeast. It has since been lifted.
