CARLYLE - Jordan Mullis is the proud owner of JDM Jewels, a retail clothing and jewelry store.
She and her husband Lyndon moved from Regina to Carlyle in 2019 and live on an acreage – the old Coffey homestead – which she refers to as 鶹Ƶ Park 2.0.
She graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Saskatchewan in 2015 and is a critical care registered nurse. With the ongoing stresses in the health care system, she decided to take a break from nursing and concentrate on her business.
As Mullis says, “Being a critical care nurse is hard on your soul. I needed to step away.” Her husband is employed as a welder at Integrity Maintenance.
Mullis created JDM Jewels in 2018 and until recently operated her business exclusively online and at trade shows. She sells handmade women’s clothing, self-made jewelry, and semi-precious crystals. Mullis also supplies her original homemade jewelry to other vendors in Estevan, Wawota and Moose Jaw.
JDM Jewels has now opened a retail outlet on Main Street in Carlyle and is located in the Carlyle Observer building. Presently she will be open Thursdays and Saturdays with expanded hours later this spring. She is also a regular vendor at the Red Market Barn during the summer.
Although Mullis has regular and loyal clientele, she wishes to expand her business and having a retail store on Main Street Carlyle will attract new customers. She added, “I want this to be a place where women feel incredible, included, and valued. I find beautiful jewelry and clothing brings joy and happiness to everyone.”
Mullis lives a very active life. She loves travelling and has visited Hawaii, Italy and England. At least annually she visits her mother Tara Young, who lives on Vancouver Island. Her father, Tim Lequyer (Lorrie), is employed by Crescent Point Energy. She enjoys kayaking and swimming and finds the eight hours it takes to cut the grass at their acreage very therapeutic. Since Christmas, they have enjoyed the daily visits of a moose calf; as an avid animal lover this has only made her love country living more.
Mullis is a very positive person and is excited at the prospects of meeting new customers face to face. St. Patrick’s Day will be the fourth anniversary of JDM Jewels and she plans on holding a grand opening/customer appreciation day. Watch for details. JDM Jewels is also on Facebook and Instagram and has its own website, and has its own website, jdmjewels.ca.
