CARLYLE - Carlyle town council met on Feb. 2, with all council members present.
Highlights from the meeting included a presentation from Rolland Bouchard on the Carlyle Fun Dayz event that is planned for Aug. 20. The committee has booked some great entertainment and will aim to offer the event for free of charge again this year. Town council has committed $10,000 to assist with the costs of the Carlyle Fun Dayz Festival for 2022.
Council once again reviewed the COVID-19 Policy in place for municipal-owned facilities in Carlyle and passed a motion to repeal this policy, removing the vaccination passport requirement. This motion was based on the current and forecasted severity of COVID-19 in our communities, in our province, as well as feedback from consultations with senior health care staff, public school staff and various community program leaders.
Council wants to acknowledge and recognize the efforts of everyone involved in keeping our community safe during this challenging period. All Town of Carlyle municipally-owned facilities shall adhere to the Government of Saskatchewan public health orders that are currently in place.
The town-owned building located at 114 Main Street is in the final stages of the renovations that are currently being completed and will be listed for sale shortly. Administration is busy preparing for the town’s annual audit which will take place the third week in February and due to the audit, the Feb. 16 meeting will be postponed to March 2, where council will have the opportunity to review the first draft of the budget for 2022.
