CARLYLE - With the assistance of funding from the provincial government through its Transit Assistance for People with Disabilities Capital Grant Program, the Town of Carlyle has purchased a new 2021 Promaster Move Mobility Dodge Van.
The vehicle is now in operation and Elsie Cameron, a 106-year-old resident of Moose Mountain Lodge, was one of its first riders.
The transit van is available to all senior and handicapped citizens of the town of Carlyle and operates Mondays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m,, Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Fridays from 1-4 p.m. The cost of this service is $2 and requests are to be made by contacting the town office at 453-2363.
Out of town service is also available, with times and cost to be determined upon inquiry. The Moose Mountain Lodge also uses this van for its own road excursions, including regular summer outings to Moose Mountain Provincial Park, trips for ice cream, and for winter festivities, including the Dickens’ Village Festival rehearsal play and twinkle tours around town.
Operator Shirley McCarron was recently recognized by the Town of Carlyle for her five years of exceptional service.
